Job Overview

As CIBC continues to build a more modern, convenient and client focused bank, the Manager within Retail Distribution is the local market leader within their community who leads and inspires their team to deliver a superior client experience. The Manager and their team focus on the delivery of a wide range of products and advisory services to our clients. The emphasis is on meeting clients' financial needs, and ensuring that every client is served by the individual best suited to meet their financial goals, proactively acting as an entrepreneur, owning business results and acquiring new clients to power net sales growth.

What You'll Be Doing

Sales Leadership and Management

  • Build a culture of collaboration across multiple client offers (One CIBC) so that clients are served by those best able to meet their financial goals
  • Lead and coach a high performing sales team of Sales Leaders, Advisors, and Financial Service Representatives to deepen client relationships and consolidate business to CIBC
  • Monitor the Banking Centre's business performance against plan and implement action plans to close any gaps
  • Champion CIBC within the community to deepen existing client relationships and develop new ones
Client Experience and Satisfaction

  • Improve the overall client experience by role modeling how to deepen client relationships, meet clients financial needs and provide a high standard of customer service
  • Coach employees to introduce clients to the employee best able to meet their needs or to refer them to the appropriate partner (e.g. Wood Gundy, CIBC Private Investment Counsel) for their needs
  • Encourage clients to adopt self-service channels in order to better meet their transaction needs
  • Encourage employees to quickly resolve client complaints, and to escalate where necessary

Relationship Management

  • Work collaboratively with partners to maximize market opportunities, overall Banking Centre growth and profitability
  • Manage relationships with other areas of the Bank who provide support services to the Banking Centre to ensure effective and efficient operations

People Management

  • Help create future opportunities for employees by providing development opportunities
    • Constantly recruit potential employees by sharing the CIBC "story" with those who share and demonstrate our values in the community
Governance and Controls

  • Protect our Bank, our clients and our shareholders by managing and minimizing the bank's exposure to risk by ensuring compliance with regulatory activities and guidelines
  • Ensure that clients are provided with the most appropriate financial advice through regular reviews of the work and advice provided by our employees
What We're Looking for

  • Successful completion of the Investment Funds in Canada (IFIC) or Canadian Securities Course (CSC) at hire
  • Branch Compliance Officer's Course (BCO) or Branch Managers Examination Course (BME) are an asset
  • Advanced financial planning courses such, as the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conducts & Practices Handbook (CPH) Wealth Management Essentials (WME) and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) are an asset
  • Ability to create a powerful and compelling vision, show enthusiasm, excitement, and passion for challenging organizational goals
  • Challenges people at all levels to exceed current levels of performance and re-think the way they do business
  • Ability to provide appropriate ongoing learning and coaching for the continuous improvement of the sales and service team within the Banking Centre
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices (e.g. hiring, performance management)
  • Creating and developing opportunities to further organizational/business objectives or improve organizational performance
  • Proven ability to provide financial advice and solutions to meet client needs through a high performing sales and service team
  • Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of retail and small business banking, and high value offers products and tools
  • Strong knowledge of the small business sector including its importance to the economy and the needs of various small business segments
  • Well-developed influencing skills sufficient to promote the vision and integrated offer and well-developed negotiating skills sufficient to close complex deals
  • Excellent relationship building skills to establish strong key relationships with clients, employees, peers, partners, district leadership, business owners and community leaders

What You Need to Know

  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends (Saturdays & Sundays)
  • Occasional travel will be required
  • This role operates within normal office conditions
