Van De Velde (1636-1672) was born in Amsterdam and specialized in landscapes featuring animals and figures. He also painted religious themes, mythological paintings as well as portraits of domestic scenes. He was also known as a draftsman and a print maker. He was a remarkable figure of Dutch Baroque Dutch Golden Age. He belonged to a group of painters referred to as the Dutch Italianate painters, who combined Dutch agricultural landscapes with mythological or Acadian scenes in Italian settings. One can find a number of his works in numerous Art Galleries as well as in The National Gallery of Canada and London, England.

Good condition. Framed and matted. Gold coloured wood frame has some wear. Any wear commensurates with the age.
Art is approximately 10 3/4” wide and 8 3/4” long.
Frame is approximately 18” wide and 15.5” long.
