Antique 1886 titled “Hope” by artist G.F. Watts, R.A. (1817-1904). George Frederick Watts 1817-1904) was a British painter and sculptor associated with the Symbolist movement. He became famous in his lifetime for his allegorical works such as Hope, Love and Life. “Hope” is a Symbolist print that shows a lone female figure sitting on a globe playing a lyre that only has a single string remaining. We all certainly need to have “Hope” given our current world struggles. This print is a good depiction of hope. Good antique condition. Any wear commensurates with the age. Print is approximately 4.5” wide and 6” long. Frame is approximately 6.5” wide and 8.5” long.
