An extremely rare and antique find in this Ridgway England 'The Two Wellers' Pickwick Black Transferware Antique Double Handle Cake Plate, with a date back stamp of 1837.

Featuring a very detailed and intricate black transfer ware original Illustration by R. Seymore and Chaz & Phiz of 'The Two Wellers' from Charles Dickens' first novel done in a seldom seen chocolate brown and amber coloration, with a textured ribbed surface and a pronounced scalloped edge and is signed.

Measures approximately 9 3/4" long x 7,1/2" wide x 1 1/2" deep

Does reflect normal age crazing, common on a piece this old but is in excellent condition with absolutely no chips and cracks and has an unusual high gloss glaze finish that still holds its exceptional lustre and beauty.
