This posting is for two very interesting old postcards which tell the story of this great humanitarian's demise at the hands of a German firing squad one hundred years ago (October 12, 1915) during WW1.
Miss Cavell, a British nurse, was shot at dawn in Brussels, Belgium ... accused of treason for helping hundreds of allied soldiers escape from German occupied Belgium. You can read the story of her life of service by enlarging the several pics accompanying this posting. Local residents will well remember The Edith Cavell Nursing residence, adjacent to Belleville General Hospital - a fitting tribute to her remarkable service to her fellow man. Asking just $10
