Chinese Heavenly Horse Roof figurine

For Sale: one large, green glazed Chinese Horse roof figurine. Traditional Chinese roofs had a special kinds of ornaments called Wenshou or zoomorphic ornaments. This single figure represents the legendary Heavenly Horse that soars through the sky with its large wings, while the sea horse gallops underwater with its scaly skin and rubbery mane (quite different from the creatures known as seahorses today). "According to the Records of the Grand Historian, “Emperor Wudi practiced divination, followed instructions from The Book of Changes and received a rare horse from the Wusun Kingdom…The emperor named it the heavenly horse.” (2020, Aaron Hsueh, "Rooftop Beasts") Some damage to this figure on the mane and side. Generally, in very good condition. Age unknown.
