New and Unused

This Rigby and Mellor 1966 model Bury Lancs water canteen has been in storage as part of the city emergency stock pile of equipment since the early 1970. The equipment was recently remove from storage and given to St John Ambulance. All profits from this sale go back into the repair of our Mobile First Aid poste in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada.

The unit is still sealed. The cap still has a paper liner between the cup that makes up the cap and the cork that is used to hold the water in. Cap is very tightly wedged in and can be difficult to remove. It is however only healed buy friction. We believe that the cork has swelled up overtime making it difficult to remove. The leather binding are still in excellent condition and does not crack when handled. The metal buckles has a bit of discoloration (green) but has not marked the leather. All snaps are in working order. The outside liner is also in excellent condition.

This unit was in storage for a long time and does have a bit of an odor (garage or oil style) but was in a sealed wood box and never in direct contact with anything.

According to Web information this would be a military style canteen from the UK. This one has none of the military marking that would allow us to say it was used in this matter. It was however part of a Civil Defence lot of equipment that the Government of Canada did provide to city during the Cold War.

Great for Fallout fan, cold war collectors, civil defence collectors and such. I am sure it could also be great for use as it was intended.

Good Luck.
