A 6-Cent stamp marking the successful APOLLO 8 first flight to the Moon was issued on May 5, 1969 -- the 8th anniversary of the first U.S. manned space flight by astronaut Alan Shepard in 1961. Three astronauts aboard the APOLLO 8 space capsule left Earth in December 1968 and circumnavigated the Moon on Christmas Eve and returned home successfully. The stamps central design is an Earth view from the Moon taken from the APOLLO 8 capsule and a quote from the Holy Bible: "In the beginning God ..." On Christmas Eve the 3 APOLLO 8 astronauts read from the Holy Bible as they circled the Moon.

Here are FIVE (5) different unaddressed FIRST DAY COVERS with a single APOLLO 8 stamp with postmark on the day of issue. Each cover photo highlights a stage of the epic space flight to the moon and safe return: (1) first television from outer space at halfway point to the moon on December 22; (2) Christmas Eve broadcast in orbit around the moon; (3) last orbit of the moon; (4) return from the moon at the halfway point and (5) splashdown at the end of the odyssey.

These FIVE (5) historic APOLLO 8 commemorative covers reduced for sale at only $15.

* Discounts available on 10 or more First Day Covers.
