Harry S. Truman (1884 – 1972) was the 33rd President of the United States (1945–53), an American politician of the Democratic Party. He succeeded to the presidency on April 12, 1945 upon the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was president during the final months of World War II, making the decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Here is an unaddressed FIRST DAY COVER saluting Harry Truman’s birthday issued on May 8 1971 postmarked in Truman’s hometown of Independence MO. A single 8-cent stamp commemorating the 150th anniversary of Missouri statehood was also issued on the 87th birthday of the President. This stamp depicts a Pawnee Indian facing a hunter-trapper and settlers. Add this US presidential cover to your collection for only $3.
