Vintage, timeless, lucite souvenier bowl " 1969, British Columbia, Canada", for sale. This is a really cool piece, quite large & very surprisingly heavy. It is a souvenier bowl, made in British Coumbia, Canada, 1969. The lucite is a yellow colour & in the middle of the bowl is an embedded genuine, Canadian Maple Leaf, red in colour & underneath written in black reads "British Columbia, Canada 1969". Lucite was developed in the 1930's and exploded into the market place originally in the pharmacuetical world as thier form of acrylic / plexiglass. DuPont named thier acrylic material "Lucite" and provided it for the market of jewlery, purses, etc.. and a diversity of many items throught out the 1940's, 50's, 60's. It can be dyed so many different colours, however it's natural colour is clear & lucite acrylic is getting much harder to find these days. A great piece of Candian history for sure, original, genuine, unique and 100% Candian cultural, given the genuine red maple leaf in the middle. You could use it for a candy bowl, on your dresser for your coins, gems etc.. large enough to use as a centrepiece in the middle of a table too. Not only pretty, but functional & practical as well. Measures 8" inches round in diameter x 2" inches height. There is a two layer indentation inside the bowl making it rather unique, like a stairway for example. This piece is in great vintage condition. The top is in EUC, no scratches, minimal wear, which is to be expected for it's age. But really the lucite is in excellent condition. Look at the picture's, as all my item's are estate items, and sold "as is", so wear is to be expected unless stated otherwise. No chips, no cracks , no damage anywhere. Just little signs of wear on the top, however the bottom is worn with scratches . It appears as if there may have been felt on the bottom at one time possibly?? However, when you look closer, the backside scratches do in fact have a pattern to them, making me believe that it is a design rather than wear?? Really different. It could however use a good cleaning, as I always leave that up to the purchaser,as some people dont want thier item's cleansed. This piece would be great as a gift, for a collector or just for yourself. Now selling this gorgeous vintage piece of Canadian history for $20.00 or best offer. Located in KW, delivery avaiable. I accept PayPal, however buyer responsible for all fee's. Make sure you check out my other listings, as new item's are added on a regular basis. Thank you for looking & have a great day!!!
