1953 SINGER 221 FEATHERWEIGHT SEWING MACHINE: FULLY SERVICED!!
The serial number is AL562381. This number was commissioned October 1953. It has beautiful, striated end plate and Celtic chain decals as well as the 221- model tag. The machine is in beautiful condition and has minimal cosmetic wear. The chrome parts are very clean.
The machine is fully cleaned, serviced, and adjusted. It has its original bobbin case. Mechanically it runs very well! The wiring harness has been replaced and it has new bed cushions, motor belt, and drip pad. It has been tested by sewing various quilting projects.
The case has been cleaned and polished and comes with the small black metal interior side tray for attachments. It has a solid handle, and hinges. The latches on the case have a unique lock type which was used by Singer for only a few years. A key is included for this unique lock. The latches are solid, but the spring on the right-side latch is lame.
For serious collectors: this latch type was seen on some type Vb - VI cases in 1952-1953. Also, the motor information band is trimmed in ‘gold’ rather than just the ‘silver’ colour of the standard aluminum band.
It comes with a marked throat plate, a photocopied 221 manual and the following set of attachments:
