Claret jug is pressed glass quilted diamonds, handle spout top is fused on, some inner neck corrosion (see pics), EP zinc, fancy handle with grapes. Has some white stuff in some crevices of glass...it's from water leaking down from the zinc top when it was used as a vase, and has some tarnish. You could clean it a bit more if you prefer, but it's otherwise clean. Great in the sparkling light of a Christmas tree! 12 1/2" tall, 3"base, narrow 1/2" neck. Great for shabby chic decor. Stunning in a window. |
Next is the warming caraffe. It seems a bit of a motley mix of designs but might be all original as a whole. The base is sturdy with legs that have an art deco look design with a flower atop each No markings. Unknown metal. Minor patina underneath. The glass vessel is good, no chips or crack. Rim is lipped and minor flaws and defects within the glass suggest it is old. The collar has retro pierced designs and two large flat head screws afix it to the handle. Also old. The handle is comfortable and well made but seems like a third design style. Deco style swirls and soft geometrics. The handle is firmly and securely attached and because it was never removed there is corrosion hiding between the metal collar and the glass. Unsightly from within, but does not effect use. The rim has a very nice lip. A sign if age and quality. The lid fits perfectly and securely for pouring and has a flowered fancy top knob. Vented, very good condition. No markings on any of the metal. Does not tarnish like silver. Probably from the 1950s? 14 1/2" tall overall when on base, vessel about 9" alone. Can place tealight candle on warming base, but bear in mind it's age. Use with caution or enjoy as a display piece. I used it to hold loose tea.
Finally, the super sturdy, mega heavy pressed glass flare bottom pitcher with original plastic ice sheath built in removable core to keep contents cold without watering it down. Perfect for fancy patio events- too heavy to tip easily, keeps the iced tea iced. Lid is hinged/attached. Not corroded. Marked on handle STR-EP-ZIN (sterling silver electroplated zinc) Glass is old enough to have bubbles and inclusions. Good condition except a part of the glass threads are chipped, but lid screws on fine regardless ( only a concern when washing it)
Totally usable but EXTREMELY HEAVY even when empty.
About 14 1/2" tall, base is 5 3/4" across
