This is a Canadian postwar Coleman Model 500 Speedmaster stove date stamped 2 - 47 making it one of the earliest Coleman stoves made in the post war era. On the bottom is a black stamp identifying this stove as a Model 500 and the blurred note to use generator 500 299. The first postwar Canadian stoves date to 1947 and for the first time in the manufacture of the stove there is an oil service hole in the pump cap. As, the photos shows the base is painted green and is clearly stamped with the Coleman logo and the marketing phrase The Sunshine of the Night Made in Canada. Lighting instructions are provided in English, French and Spanish. The stove is in excellent working condition and is a great collector piece or could still be used to cook in an outdoor situation. There were three Model 500 stoves made in Canada - the Canadian 500 Speedmaster, Canadian 500A Sportmaster, and the Canadian 500B Sportsmaster. The stove shown here is one of the earliest models made and was very early in the production and manufacture of the stove making this offering a true collector’s piece.
