ATTENTION COLLECTORS and VINTAGE LOVERS:
This musical jewel box, made in Japan, was a Xmas present from my aunt and uncle in 1961 or '62. It still plays a tune, although along with the tune, I can hear the gears turning now. The tune runs for more than a minute on one wind. The box is lined with red velvet/corduroy fabric, and measures 6 inches x 4 inches, and 4 inches high. From a smoke-free house; clean, and with no smells, odours or stains, guaranteed!
Here are the flaws to note: The top metal clip at the front of the box is missing two of 3 pins (see the last photo). This is not noticeable when the lid is shut. The finish on the inside mirror has become somewhat clouded. Some of the gold paint has rubbed off along the top edge, but can be touched up with matching paint from a hobby store. Some of the black lacquer has peeled off of the left side, near the sailboats (see photo #7), but could also be improved with a touch-up. Because I'm not keeping the box, I will leave this decision to my buyer.
Pick up in Wascana View, SE area of Regina.
