From the wilds of Huron County, D. McLeod called Clinton, Ontario, his home. Close to Lake Huron, and with an area known for beautiful scenery it's no surprise that there are many fine Art Galleries throughout the area. Goderich, Bayfield and Grand Bend carry works from artists old and new and love showing off relics from days gone by.
Relics like this Wind Tower, renamed 'Old Timer' by our artist were wonderful inventions from the old days. This one was used as a pump for field irrigation that made life in these wilds easier to handle.
Another relic from here is "the School on Wheels", a train that visited remote Northern Ontario communities to educate children who would otherwise not have access to school, and is permanently on display in Clinton.
Residents in this area are not likely to rush towards the future. Driving through the region, their country roads reveal farms, houses and forgotten landmarks like this windtower, nestled within forests whose inhabitants do not include people anymore.
The painting is in good shape but the original frame has paint worn off at the bottom corners.
