Helen L Ness is a painter and printmaker originally from Dundas, Ontario and an original member of the Carnegie Gallery.
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, she pursued a career as a commercial artist. In subsequent years she took further courses at the Dundas Valley School of Art where she discovered the challenging appeal of the etching process.
Etching became her passion but she enjoyed working on other media as well, and miniatures became her specialty. Over the years Helen was active in many arts organizations and she has shared her knowledge and love for her chosen medium through art classes and workshops.
Now able to spend part of each year in Mexico, she is now enjoying painting the scenery as well as the local people there.
This is an exceptional work, the background in finest detail looks like lace. This beautiful Victorian doll with a hint of color on her cheeks certainly invites you into its world. It's as lifelike as it can be without going into the horror genre. This one is truly loveable.
Although she specialized in miniatures this being a 'Last Doll' she brought us a large sized example of her fine works.
This etching is a limited edition of 15/15. Hand signed and titled by the artist with a note on the back where the original of the doll was painted. It would make for a fine display in anyone's home and in any room.
Gallery framed and glass covered in mint condition. Ready to hang.
