Frank Panabaker, (1904-1992), A.R.C.A., is an artist closely associated with Hamilton, Ontario and during a lengthy career enjoyed a considerable international reputation for his paintings of the Canadian landscape.

A member of the Allied Artists of America and one of a handful of Canadians ever to be elected to the group, much of his subject matter was local scenes in and around Ancaster, Ontario, the Dundas valley and marsh, and of course, Hamilton. He documented the life and times of the Steel City from the 1940's, through to the 1990's; there’s even a street named after him there – but also painted landscapes across almost every Canadian province and even down into Vermont and the Bahamas.

His paintings have a pastoral or romantic look to them and the paintings showing windswept trees around Georgian Bay also became a hallmark, as have his winter scenes.

He studied art in a variety of locations, beginning with the art classes of F. McGillivray and Elizabeth Knowles who had established a school at Hespeler in an old Mennonite church no longer used for worship and later at the Ontario College of Art under Arthur Lismer and J.E.H. MacDonald, original members of the Group of Seven.

From early in his career he was a fully self-supported professional artist enjoying many successful exhibitions at home and abroad. During the depression years he parked himself inside the lobby of steel mills, banks, corporate offices, and anywhere he got permission and sold his works, basically on the street.

The story goes that Sara D. Roosevelt, mother of U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, purchased a small seascape at one of his exhibitions. When this was reported in a Toronto newspaper, 18 more pictures were sold in the next two days.

He is a listed Canadian artist with his works represented by:
