An large vintage artwork from Kim Marker who was commissioned by the Timothy Eaton company to paint for their Fine Arts Department.

T. Eaton's Company was the premier department store in the world when they began to commision world class artists from 1915 until 1965. Artists like the Group of Seven Frank Johnston and more contemporary artists from the 1950's like Tom Stone agreed to sell their paintings through the Eaton's Department store.

I have always sought out artists with the T. Eatons' logo on the back for their world class artistry whether from Canada or from European artists.

Kim Marker's sticker is fastened en verso along with the T. Eaton's logo and judging by the age of the frame and canvas would put the age of this painting to belong in the 1930's.

It's a lovely forest scene with soft forest colors under a misty sky. It's a very good work of art. The frame is ornate and the outside gesso covering is beginning to crumble. Pieces of that part of the frame do fall off with handling. The inner frame is in good condition. A brass name plate reading K. Marker is fastened to the frame bottom.
