Myrna Wilkinson from Alberta, Canada has been painting in watercolors for more than 25 years. Her home base since 1998 has been the 'Society of Western Canadian Artists' who have featured her works throughout her career.
She started painting with oils, watercolors and other media but has always come back to watercolors, her favourite.
She became a listed Canadian artist in 1990 and she is represented by the National Gallery of Canada.
This stunning miniature watercolor full of details and color is a small memento of a winter's day, revealed to us as a diary's notation of a walk through the countryside. The work was done rapidly from a perfect design she visualizes that captures anything she turns her eyes to.
Her subjects are the small corners of a field or backyard, a bowl of cherries left on a table, an open gate leading into a forgotten garden. She loves to bring us these bouquets of images that she finds for us while walking throughout the seasons of Alberta.
"One of the many joys of being an artist is the immense challenge and satisfaction of pressing on ... to keep learning, growing and hopefully improving. It is such fun finding something new and fascinating that just must be painted."
