Vintage Oil Painting very well drawn of an actual home painted early morning on a hilly countryside. Some lights have just turned on in the old house, lamps probably, and because nothing is coming out of the chimney I believe it's a morning fire and breakfast that will soon be started.
Thomas Kinkade, an American painter who loved to paint pictures of idealized and imagined cottages with all the lights on and smoke billowing out of their chimney's seldom painted an actual loving home as this one is. I have to surmise it's the artist's home.
The house is on top of a wild hill surrounded by an old forest. The actual house was built some time before and I would estimate in the 1800's with a shed and a back room as an add on. A wonderful well is situated at the front of the property with a primitive but brilliant method of drawing up fresh water. There is no electricity or any real roads but for the worn out path leading up towards the house.
If this was just a slightly different setting we might be talking about stumbling upon a hobbit hole. There is no date of when this painting was made and might be a beautiful childhood memory of this artist but what a stunning clear eyed memory.
On the other side of the house there has to be another wonderful view and a garden and some animals for this little homestead. What a joyful memory G. Eastman must have lived with to paint such an image.
