Steven Irsag, a Middelsex artist was drawn to northern scenes as many other well known artist were. There's something about Canadian history that plants an artist where it all began.
Here, we have two people labouring in the snow, well stocked and prepared for a winter's treck just approaching a dense forest as they move around the lake. It's a panoramic view of a landscape we are now familiar with and one I still find fascinating.
This realistic work is well balanced by way of composition and color. It's a very impressive and inexpensive oil painting that reminds us of what some Canadians were doing everyday and surviving in this northern part of the world.
Canvas painting in very good condition.
