Description

Passenger comfort isn’t only about having a nice place to sit. It’s not feeling guilty when the person who’s driving you is struggling to find a spot for any walking aids you might need. The beauty of the MKT Livery Town Car is its huge trunk space that can easily handle a wheel chair or walker, not to mention an incredibly well-padded back bench seat with more than ample legroom for those whose legs are less than fully flexible.

It’s particularly convenient for the elderly for whom entering and exiting a car is a struggle. Unlike many SUV’s or vans, it’s not so high that one has to ‘climb’ in, nor is it so low that one tends to ‘fall’ into the seat. For most, the seats both front and back are hip high which make both entry and exit comfortable.

As for leg room, the back seat is situated well back to afford 18” of leg space, more than in almost any other vehicle. And with a specially-mounted switch on the rear passenger door, the front passenger seat can be slid forward to afford the person behind it a full two feet (2') of leg room.

As well, rear passengers have easy access to controls that work the heating, air conditioning, and radio AND they have their choice of USB, 12 volt power, and 110 volt power for any computers or tablets they may want to refer to as they travel. Not to mention that both rear windows are made with tinted privacy glass and both rear doors feature pull-up privacy screens which makes rear seat riding glare free.

Nor is the driver forgotten. He or she gets a 10-way power adjustable leather seat as does the front passenger. The 3.7 litre engine, the same as that in the F150 of the same year, has both torque and speed. It is NOT the Ecoboost engine that has had so many problems. The power rear liftgate gives easy access to a full 36 cubic feet of cargo space, with an additional foot-deep cavity capable of housing a full-size spare tire (included with the vehicle) in addition to the ‘donut’. For added cargo room, the full size spare can be removed. Many of this MKT’s options are listed in one of the accompanying pictures.

This Lincoln Livery Town Car features a variety of additional refinements. It has a specially engineered heavy duty chassis to provide excellent durability and to handle heavier than normal loads. Its upgraded suspension and high spring rate give a firmer feel and reduce body roll and lean. It has heavy duty electric power steering, a higher capacity transmission, a hub assembly with upgraded wheel bearings which contribute to the smoothness of the ride and to the integrity of anti-lock braking systems, not to mention standard all wheel drive.

Previously employed for all but a few months of its life as a limousine by a high-end Burlington Ontario retirement residence, it comes with a full service record from new (see picture), is fitted with one- year-old, gently driven Firestone all season tires, and has WeatherTech mats both front and back. It will be certified. Reasonable offers will be considered.

If you have elderly relatives who need to travel with a wheel chair or walker, this Lincoln MKT Livery Town Car will make accommodating them struggle-free. And it's fun to drive, too.
