Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!

    Description

    - Zula is a very pretty golden tabby-type cat with medium-length hair and white markings. She's a bit timid and gets bullied a lot, so I'd really like to see her rehomed first, if possible. She's about 10 years old and doesn't like to go outside much, unless it's a really warm day. - Brian: This guy is quite large with extremely fluffy, long white hair. He was neutered a few months ago. Until that time he and another un-neutered male fought constantly, and so this guy has a few scars on his face. Brian is EXTREMELY affectionate and friendly, with a big personality. When you hold him he will actually hug you quite tightly. He is an indoor/outdoor cat. I don't know how well he'd do as an indoor only cat. - Carl is about 5 years old (neutered at age 2) and in good health. He's affectionate and friendly, gets along with other cats. He has been both an indoor and outdoor cat - he doesn't seem to care either way. - Puss-Puss: She's 7-8 years old, solid gray, short hair, white markings. Very sweet, always minds her own business and never gets grouchy with the other cats. She lives outside now but I'm pretty sure that she would absolutely love to be indoors full time. - Paul and Carl are brothers, so Paul is about 5 years old. He's a bit timid but I think it's only because up until now, the two unneutered males caused so much havoc and stress for everyone he just learned to stay in the shadows and not get noticed. He's just a calm, quite guy who just likes to chill and really only makes a peep when he's talking to me while I feed everybody. He's always lived outside but as with nearly all cats, I'm pretty sure he'd be happy living the good life inside as well. The only reason for rehoming these cats is that the cat population has grown here at our acreage and now that everybody's been spayed or neutered, they don't hunt/earn their keep (typical for fixed cats). All are healthy and friendly. You're welcome to come out and meet them. We are on an acreage 12 minutes West of Saskatoon.
