1981 PUMA GTI - Only 610 produced!

This 1981 Puma GTI is one of only 610 produced by Puma Automóveis Ltda. of São Paulo, Brazil. Subsequent work included replacing the spark plugs, throttle cable springs, and heater hoses as well as the fuel and air filters. It's powered by an air-cooled 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, the car is finished in red over black cloth upholstery. Equipment includes 14” E-Scorro wheels, front disc brakes, dual Solex carburetors, a rear spoiler, and quadruple exhaust outlets. This car is a Rino Malzoni-design fiberglass body and was built on a Volkswagen Brasilia chassis. The car received a repaint in red under previous ownership and could use a new paint job and minor fiberglass work done. There is some orange peel, along with minor nicks and scratches in the fiberglass. details include a black rear spoiler (which is removable), a vented engine cover, and polished quadruple exhaust outlets. The right taillight is cracked and there is a small area of repaired fiberglass on the driver side door. This Puma is riding on E-Scorro 14″ wheels where Puma center caps are mounted with 185/70 Hallmark Premium tires up front and Goodyear Integrity tires out back. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. The bucket seats are trimmed in black cloth with vinyl sides and backs and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpet. The Superscope AM/FM cassette stereo is inoperative, the dashboard and center console are in very good condition. Two minor tears are evident on the driver’s seat cushion. The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Puma-branded instrumentation that includes a 200-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and oil temperature, while an analog clock is housed in the center stack. The radio is available but not hooked up. This Puma only has 81k kilometers (~50k miles) on it. The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four is fed by dual Solex carburetors topped with open-element air cleaners. The fuel filter, spark plugs, throttle cable springs, heater hoses, and air filters were all replaced. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The car is all original and has full registration and all matching numbers. Being sold as-is, not safetied.
