Breed: Chihuahua
Age: Adult
Sex: Female
Size: S

Have room in your life for a sweet six-pound Chihuahua that loves to be in your arms or on your lap? How about two? Maggie, a ten-year-old tri-coloured Chi, and Junior, her five-year-old tan-and-white son, have been together as long as Junior has been alive. They sleep, eat, cuddle, play, go outside, and come inside together. We're hoping to find a loving home that will take in both of them, so this pair can continue to enjoy each other's companionship.

Maggie is a very friendly, easygoing girl who is happy to meet anyone and is very generous with doggie kisses. She likes to be carried around and cuddled and will paw at your legs to be picked up. Junior is more shy and cautious than his mom and needs time to approach new people, but is quite a snuggly little guy once he trusts you. He's particularly fond of tummy rubs (although at his size, they're more like tummy scratches!) and likes to lay his head against you when he's relaxing.

Both of them are low-key types who prefer cuddle time to action, and would be perfect for someone who is the same. Like typical Chihuahuas, they love to be warm and cozy, and will often seek out a fireplace, the sunny spot in the room, or a thick blanket where they can bury themselves. They will play with each other for short bursts and like to roam around the backyard when the weather is nice. So far, they don't seem to understand the purpose of toys, although Maggie is starting to show a little interest in squeakies (Junior is nervous about them). They're just starting to be introduced to walking on a leash and harness, and can do without regular walks if they have other activity.

The two are well-behaved and easy to live with in their foster home. They're very comfortable being crated, and good in the car either in their crate or held in someone's lap. They're housebroken, although they're best let out every few hours. Maggie is typically friendly with other dogs, while Junior may be wary and barky. The two have not been exposed to cats.

Maggie and Junior have both been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm-tested and microchipped. They've had dental work, as their teeth were in bad shape. Maggie now has few teeth left, and is fed soft food. They're otherwise in good health, and ready for adoption.

These two are available as a pair only through Grand River All Breed Animal Rescue. The adoption donation is $500 for both dogs. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. Please fill out our Adoption Form if you are interested. You can also reach us by email at

Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!
