  • Description
Guardian families wanted within 30 minutes of Peterborough/Lindsay/Bobcaygeon Ontario.
Further away is too far. :)

We breed once per year until age five. No cost is attached for the puppy. Guardian families get $ from each litter.

We are looking for guardians who can offer a puppy a forever home while breeding and when retired she's yours!!

A guardian: what is it?
....a special care giver. Instead of breeding females living in a kennel environment, trends for reputable breeders are going towards guardian programs. A much happier and humane way for females breeding dogs to live. As we like to have all our puppies be a wonderful addition to a great family we sometimes place our breeding females - adults and puppies with families who enjoy them as part of their family and when they grow up they can still be a part of our Breeding Program.
So are you interested in being a guardian family?
A guardian home is a local family who is a forever home for one of the dogs in our breeding program. Guardian homes allow our breeding dogs to live with families and not in kennels as our program grows. Only so many dogs can fit on our lap!
Our breeding program is designed around our ability to utilize guardian homes for our breeding dogs. This program is designed this way to benefit everyone, especially and most importantly the dogs, who are raised in a home with a family instead of a kennel. Think of it as being a foster family with the intention of adopting the dog permanently once their career is finished. Guardian homes are meant to be permament so that the dog does not need to go through a stressful re-homing. A much more humane way for breeding mothers to live. No kennels. Living in a loving home.
We retain ownership and breeding rights until the breeding contract is fulfilled. We want all of our dogs to be in a loving “forever” home. It is a win, win for everyone, most importantly the dog.
Most of the dogs in our guardian homes will be females but we may have a male from time to time. Females will have a few litters and can could be in our program until 5-6 years old (at our sole discretion).
Guardian families are responsible for normal dog care including but not limited to training, socialization, vet expenses (non-breeding related), food, grooming and lots of love and affection. We pay for all breeding related expenses. As an added benefit for the guardian family, depending on our schedule we may provide care for your dog while on vacation.

****.The Guardian Home program is actually a very simple program even though it may seem like there are a lot of details. The main thing to remember is, if we as humans truly reject the idea of puppy mills, - there is no better way than the guardian home program to help reputable breeders continue to breed dogs in a humane and loving environment and out of kennels or cages so in order to continue to produce HAPPY and HEALTHY puppies for families who are looking for a forever pet or are in need of a service dog we have adopted this wonderful program and it has worked very well for us and the families involved.*****

Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!
