This super sweet girl is Paige, a 6-year-old old-fashioned farm Collie type Collie (we're told her mother was a full Rough Collie but her father was unknown, as you can see she looks very Collie-ish!). Regardless of her ancestry, she is a beautiful girl and everyone who meets her remarks on how pretty she is!

Paige would prefer to be the only dog. She is very picky about her doggie friends. She is currently fostered with several senior dogs plus a younger Rough Collie and while she is not best friends with them, she tolerates them just fine. In her furever home though, Paige would be happiest and feel better being the only dog where she can soak up all the love and attention herself. She will only be adopted to a home where she is the only dog in the home.

We have no experience with how Paige might be with cats or small children but feel she would be best with kids 12+, not because of her temperament but more because she likes a quiet, relaxed environment. She would be a perfect fit for an older couple who are looking for a companion to putter around the yard with and spend time cuddled up on the couch with.

Paige would not do well in a busy, hustle-bustle type neighbourhood. She would truly love a rural home if possible. She would like a fenced in area where she can play with you and get some exercise as she is active for her age and does need some daily stimulation. She will not be happy in a home where she is left all day and gets not attention/exercise.

Paige is very, very affectionate and LOVES attention and rubs and pets and snuggles from the people in her life. She will take a moment to warm up to strangers but once she does, she's a happy, friendly girl. She likes to be brushed so someone who loves to brush that long Collie coat will love Paige!

Her foster family is working on her leash manners but a home that will continue this will be needed. Paige can be a "puller" sometimes but this is just some training and can actually be a fun, bonding exercise to work on this together with her. She is also reactive to other dogs on leash and we feel this is something that may just be part of Paige, so while working on this issue is something to consider, it's also acceptable to ensure she goes to a home where she won't meet many dogs on walks (rural areas, etc).

Paige is a very confident girl and will fit best into a home who will appreciate that about her (NOT a home intent on changing that about her). She won't be a "going to the doggie park" kind of gal but for someone who doesn't care about dog parks, that will work out just fine. Paige is looking for a home who will accept her quirks - because she is perfectly willing to accept yours!

Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!
