This super sweet girl is Paige, a 6-year-old old-fashioned farm Collie type Collie (we're told her mother was a full Rough Collie but her father was unknown, as you can see she looks very Collie-ish!). Regardless of her ancestry, she is a beautiful girl and everyone who meets her remarks on how pretty she is!

Paige has come a long way with her doggie friends. When she first arrived in rescue she was hesitant about other dogs but we’ve found that she actually likes almost all of the dogs she’s met now (and she’s met a lot of them!). If she is on-leash, a slow introducing is best but off leash, she has been great with all the dogs she meets and even tries to initiate play with several of them. Her new favourite friend is a young boxer puppy who she likes to romp around with. She will be fine in a home with another dog as long as they are fun, laid-back and not looking to push Paige around too much.

We have no experience with how Paige might be with cats. Paige is excellent with the toddler grandchildren who visit the foster home and likes to snuggle up on the couch and watch TV with them. However, when they get to running and playing, she IS a herding dog and will try to nip heels and herd them around, so dog savvy kids are needed or older children would be best. She would be a perfect fit for an older couple who are looking for a companion to putter around the yard with and spend time cuddled up on the couch with.

Paige would not do well in a busy, hustle-bustle type neighbourhood. She would truly love a rural home if possible. She would like a fenced in area where she can play with you and get some exercise as she is active for her age and does need some daily stimulation. She will not be happy in a home where she is left all day and gets not attention/exercise.

Paige is very, very affectionate and LOVES attention and rubs and pets and snuggles from the people in her life. She will take a moment to warm up to strangers but once she does, she's a happy, friendly girl. She likes to be brushed so someone who loves to brush that long Collie coat will love Paige!

Her foster family is working on her leash manners but a home that will continue this will be needed. Paige can be a puller on leash sometimes but this is just some training and can actually be a fun, bonding exercise to work on this together with her.

Paige is a very confident girl and will fit best into a home who will appreciate that about her (NOT a home intent on changing that about her). Paige is looking for a home who will accept her quirks - because she is perfectly willing to accept yours!

Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!
