Baron is a beautiful 2-year-old Smooth Collie who needs an active home who can keep up with this busy boy! Baron is NOT a laid-back kind of guy and will only be adopted to a home who is interested in getting into one of the many available doggie sports out there. Baron will excel at agility or fly-ball or dock dog competitions or even obedience trials. He needs a home who will be committed to ensuring his energy is channeled into fun and exciting activities! If you are not interested in finding out about some of the dog sports to participate in with Baron, he really is not the dog for you.

Baron is a happy, affectionate boy who would is well-behaved in the house and great in the car. He loves people of all ages and meets everyone with a happy tail wag. He would love a couple of herding dog savvy older kids to romp around and play with but will be find in a home with no kids too. Baron is a very strong boy and while he needs plenty of on-leash walks every day, he needs someone who can ensure they are not pulled off their feet when Baron sees a squirrel or a bird that potentially needs chasing!

Baron is excellent with other dogs and although he would love another doggie pal in his new home - someone who likes to play and romp would be fantastic - he will also be fine as the only dog as long as he gets lots of play dates or time at the park to socialize and burn off some energy. He is also excellent with the cat in his foster home but would like to play if the kitty is so inclined (so a cat who is afraid of big dogs might be unhappy with Baron's wish to play).

Baron has a very high herding drive and is a BIG car chaser. For his own safety he will only be adopted to a home with a fully fenced back yard. He is also very much an alert barker and likes to let his family know about potential threats from squirrels and garbage trucks and, sometimes, leaves that might be blowing past. Someone used to herding dogs and their alert barking will be used to this type of behaviour. In a quieter neighbourhood or a more rural-type setting this won't be an issue but Baron is not a dog for a busy urban area or apartment or townhouse-type living.

Baron is a lovely boy who, in the right home, will make some lucky family complete. If you are looking for a sweet Collie temperament but with an extra dab of spunk and GO-GO-GO personality, Baron might be your boy!

Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!
