This dresser is from the 1890's*. Tiger oak on the top and the drawers, original brass hardware that was cleaned and buffed. Drawers open and close smoothly.
This has been fully repaired and refinished. It was taken down to the pieces, cleaned, repaired and reassembled.
Solid wood throughout including the back and side panels. Tiger oak of this quality does not exist in new builds as the trees needs simply do not grow large enough. This a strong dresser ready for another 4 generations of use.
Finished with shellac. Which would have been traditionally used. It also highlights and deepens the grain providing a one of a kind finish. The top was then coated with a water based varnish to add additional protection.
This is a stunning dresser with historical character. Would look great in any bedroom.
Notes
Date was found on the inside of the drawer lock see last picture.
The brass backing plates are original and solid brass. Unfortunately the pulls on the bottom drawers were lost. I was able to replace with period appropriate pulls
As would expect with a 130 year old piece there are some marking on the top that I was not able to remove without altering the character of the top. This is reflected in the price
