The Opportunity

In this permanent position, under the direction of the Director of Safety, the DSC is responsible for coaching to our driving force on non-compliance issues.

Duties Include:

  • Conduct coaching to our driving force on non-compliance issues related to FMCSA / MTO regulations.
  • Conduct post-accident interviews (personal and motor vehicle) and accurately record findings
  • Coordinate and administer consistent remedial training as deemed necessary to improve driver performance in non-compliance areas such as Hours of Service, Weights and dimensions, Dangerous goods etc.
  • Act as a liaison between the driving staff and all departments to identify and resolve problems or deficiencies related to safety regulations, company policy and collision reduction.
  • Review safety performance issues on drivers and take action to correct or improve on deficiencies
  • Administer consistent and effective remedial training and/or discipline as per company policy and/or regulatory agency directives
  • Track and monitor driver safety performance using third party programs

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have an in-depth and current knowledge of safety, hours of work regulations, Hazmat regulations, Canada Labour Code, U.S. Federal Motor Carrier regulations, Ministry of Transportation Ontario regulations
  • Effective communications skills (listening, oral and written)
  • Effective organization, planning and problem solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Effective analytical skills
  • Strong self-discipline and shows initiative
  • Computer skills, including Office products, ICC, and third party web portals

HOURS:

Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm OR Tuesday to Saturday - To be determined
