Up for sale is a Ludwig Universal Snare, 4 X 14 inch body (5 inch across hoops) that came from a Toronto music store in early 1920's.
Circa 1923-1928 (probably a Canadian military marching drum (has hook on top hoop) as it came from my best friend's grandfather who was in the army.
A drum collector in my area (over 100 snares) rated it at a 7.5
Nickel coated spun brass body, nickel coated brass hoops.
Extra large spun-in reinforcements at outer edges and double reinforced center bead.
6 lugs, no cracks, threads lightly oiled and in good condition.
Patented "Tango" throw-off snare strainer (thumb screw adjustable and positive locking lever).
All parts/hardware look to be 100% original except for drum heads.
New Evans heads installed, leaving final tuning to your taste.
Drum heads that came with drum are ripped and will come with drum. Looks to be original wood flesh hoop with calfskin on bottom and a steel top flesh hoop with calfskin.
