Available for sale is a NAD 7000 Monitor Series in excellent cosmetic and electrical condition.
The Monitor series components was NAD's previous top of the line and premium components line. They were built like tanks as compared to current offerings.
The NAD 7000 was based on the NAD 7100X (not on the older 7100)- with the added goal of making the NAD sound available at an even lower price!
The tuner and preamp sections of the 7100X were based on the renowned 1600X. The tuner is very sensitive and pulls in stations with little background noise. When listening to this receiver, it is very easy to mistake an FM station, for that of the sound from a CD player!. The 7100X has a narrow filter switch which allows it receive close by stations clearer than that received by most others
Independent audio magazine reviews described the line level inputs including CD input as operating at the limit of theoretical audio system operation in terms of noise levels!
The power amp sections is identical to the amp in the NAD 2100X. The amp section is rated as one of the quietest in the industry - 100dB quite at 1 watt. While the amp section is rated at 60 watts, NAD's PE technology allows it push over 200 watts into 8 ohm speaker loads when "pushed"!
This receiver was recently serviced and should give the next lucky owner more years of trouble-free service!
** The main differences between the 7000 and 7100X are:
power amp: 7000 40 watts compared to 60 watts of the 7100X
tuner-preamp specs same
No station preset LEDs
AM tuner external antenna rod eliminated from 7000 - NAD's research confirmed most customers preferred FM, for the mean time the AM users still had the rear connectors to which they could connect external AM antennas
Please note that under normal listening conditions the 7000 cannot be differentiated from the 7100X
