Take a moment to imagine something you've learned in the past, maybe a new skill or an expansion of knowledge about a specific area of focus. Did you have the aid of a teacher, parent, employer, coach or mentor? Most likely the answer is yes. Quitting smoking is no different. Simply stopping is not always a sustainable long term option though without creating strategies to prevent relapse. We need to realize that the focus has to be on learning new ways of living. Only then can you naturally incorporate these skills and strategies into managing a smoke free daily lifestyle. Coping, stress reduction, boundaries and goal setting are just a few of the tools that can easily be attained to aid you in the creation of a new way of life, smoke free.

Here are some of the things we can easily incorporate into your eight week program:

-Create an easy to follow quit plan.
-Learn more about NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) patch, gum and inhalers and their proper uses.
-How to develop peer support, set boundaries and maintain positive social interactions.
-Learn healthy coping strategies and how to naturally incorporate them into daily living.
-Become aware of triggers and high risk situations while creating new alternatives.
-Controlling self talk and internal dialog to aid in the motivation for change.
-Expand your personal life goals and begin setting, tracking and monitoring them.
-Provide additional skills training such as anger management, mindfulness and relaxation.
-Create an exercise, sleep, self-care plans and realize their importance in stress management.
-Secondary goal setting and how to include those into your quit plan.
