In the early phases of practice, we train to enhance our body awareness and avoid strikes and grabs through the skillful application of body motions. As training continues, the style includes a variety of counter measures such as throws, projections, strikes, locks, chokes, dislocations and pressure point attacks.

Our ultimate goal is to increase our physical and technical ability, amplify our awareness and to be in balance with whatever comes our way. The challenge is to deal with all that in a way that is positive, developmental and supports peace in the world.

The study of Chokushin represents the practice of an ancient form of Japanese martial combat. It was specifically designed to deal with single and multiple attackers in life and death struggles. It is not a sport, it is not a controlled interaction between two opponents, it is the strategic application of awareness and technique to meet a specific combat conclusion. There are no trophies, no second place ribbons and no cheering crowd .
