Anyone have a connection to a local media outlet?

I am looking for someone who has an 'in' with a local Toronto media outlet of any kind, that has a broad reach across the GTA. My family and I were unfortunate enough to experience an apartment fire back in November of 2023, which resulted in the hospitalization for an extended time of my wife and our two year old twins.

We have started a GoFundMe page and shared it to our own social media pages - but neither of us is particularly active on any one platform and so the reach has been limited. I have tried to reach out to the news channels that originally covered the fire when it happened - to provide an update on our situation and hopefully put 'a face (and a name) to the story' so that our community might be more inclined to help if they could. But unfortunately I have yet to hear back.

A family in Ajax suffered a similar situation 2 months after our own incident, with the added devastating detail where the Mum was forced to throw her toddler out of a window to be caught by waiting emergency responders below. Like us - they all survived against the odds, but will spend the forseeable future recovering in hospital from traumatic injuries of all sorts. Personally - my wife was in a medically induced coma for 3 months and underwent a tracheotomy and other invasive procedures, followed by an intensive physiotherapy routine to regain muscle memory lost due to being incapacitated for so long. My son experienced back to back episodes of cardiac arrest due to the lack of oxygen to his brain after suffering smoke inhalation injuries and burning to his trachea. When he was strong enough, he was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital for children where he spent another 10 weeks in the traumatic brain injury inpatient clinic. His twin sister was the only one alert and awake on their second birthday - spent at Sick Kid's Hospital surrounded by extended family on a separate floor than her brother. She healed quickly and was discharged in December - thankfully.

I am writing this hoping that someone will know someone who works somewhere in the media industry here in Toronto - who is able to link the original incident with my family, and help us reach more of the community locally who might be able to help us get back on our feet.
