Im selling this custom made Jazz bass that I had made for me.
It was built by a Luthier in Hamilton.
The body is made from swamp ash. The neck is a beautiful birdseye maple. Such a great neck. The pickups are Dimarzio ultra jazz. The main feature of this bass is the Hipshot tremolo. Nice for doing divebombs and wobbling harmonics. The bass also comes with straplocks. Now for some details on the construction and flaws of this bass.
When I had it made, the builder for some reason couldn't get around to painting it. There was a alot of stalling when it came to this step. So the bass was delivered unfinished. It looked amazing in it's raw state, but it needed to be finished because the wood was bare and unsealed. I had to find someone to do the paint job. I did locate someone and sent it out for an olympic white finish done with a nitro laquer. The person who did the paint didn't do the greatest job and I did get refunded on the paint and kept it as is. There are flaws in the finish. This is not noticable from a distance, but it is up close.. I'll point them out if you want to come see the bass. Some small chips, cracks around the neck pocket and a bit of waviness to the paint in some spots. Also, there are a few fit issues. The pickguard doesn't perfectly line up with the control plate. I also haphazardly drilled 2 holes in the pick guard to accomodate a chrome pickup cover. The holes are a little off.
This bass also has a cool etched neck plate with a picture of the bass great Jaco Pastorius.
I paid alot of money for this bass, and it took for what seems like forever to get it complete. Im selling it because my '75 reissue jazz is getting more love than this bass and I also own another bass with a tremolo.
It's a really nice looking and playing bass apart from the fit and finish flaws which are not major. And the neck alone could fetch a good buck by itself.
The bass has never left my smoke free home.
