This bass is perfect for those looking for something light and comfortable that packs a serious amount of active punch. Having played this bass extensively it is truly a versatile instrument; Pop, Jazz, Blues, Metal, Rock, Funk, Fusion, Latin. It truly can create these sounds if you know how to pull them from the instrument. It is also very visually striking, even more so with the accented gold tuner. On gigs people would always compliment the look and sound.
This bass is one of the few SRs with a PJ configuration lending it a uniquely vintage leaning voice among the basses of the range, yet still retaining the tonal characteristics that made this series popular. It has Carey Nordstrand Designed (CND) pickups paired with an Ibanez-designed preamp + active/passive switch resulting in many possible sounds.
The bass itself is made from Swamp Ash for the body and a 5pc Jatoba and Walnut neck. The bass as a whole is designed for comfort and playability.
It is currently strung with worn-in Elixir strings which enhance the modern/active sound of the instrument with the added benefit of feeling smooth to play and feeling close to new strings.
Aspects of Note: This bass has been well loved over the time I’ve had it and as a result it has some scratches along the body (pictured above), minor buckle rash near the neck joint, minor dings, and one gold hipshot tuner to replace a faulty factory tuner. (I like to think of it as a gold tooth)
Here is a video demoing some sounds of the 4 string variant of this bass (sounds start @3:14): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeO-m8Z-ZLg (I am not the guy in the video)
