A quick word about the pictures;
- Classic Les Paul head-stock break. Most of the time this is a straight forward repair. This one needed a little finesse on the finish. I mixed a good match with wood dye and nitro lacquer and the result was an almost undetectable break.
-The neck work/fretboard pictures are of an early 30's National Duolian that was in really rough shape. Fretboard had been repaired or replaced in the 1970's and done very badly. The neck was badly forward bowed and unplayable apart from slide. It also sounded very poor due to the bad repair. My client wanted to be able to play it like a regular guitar and was worried it was a lost cause. I removed the fretboard, cleaned all old glue residue from the board, had to plane the neck flat again, frets removed, radiused the board, put in new frets with my special glueing technique. When it was all done it played textbook perfect and sounded absolutely stunning. My client was exceedingly happy with how it turned out.
Wiesenborn bridge re-glue. This was made by a builder in BC. When it arrived new to my client -in mid winter- the bridge had lifted. Because of the sloped style of the bridge, I had to make cauls that would keep a steady downward pressure on the bridge. I use individual bridge clamps for all bridge work as I can control the pressure better than with the "all in one" bridge clamp that some favour. I've done hundreds of bridge repairs over the years and they always work out great.
Early 60's Gretsch. This one had fallen off the wall and landed right on the strap pin- pushed the end block in a bit and popped the top up. Had a few other setup issues that were easily remedied. I love these old Gretsch guitars.
