Do you have the management and marketing skills to start and run successful businesses including an existing nail salon? This dynamic position is calling for the “jack-of-all-trades” and mental health consumer rights advocate.
“Our House” is a pilot vocational rehabilitation housing project with the objectives of supporting survivors of severe and persistent mental illnesses in returning to the workforce. We aim to work through current systemic conflicts between employment and housing, using business initiatives to create job opportunities and funds for supporting survivors of severe and persistent mental illnesses in the workforce.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Assist individuals with mental health disabilities to obtain and maintain employment opportunities.
-Monitor patients in person for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications.
-Supervise and assist with activities of daily living including personal and environmental hygiene, medication compliance, meal preparation, transportation, money management etc using a recovery approach.
-Assist with the successful implementation of participant’s recovery plans with their treatment teams.
-Oversee and ensure the operations of an existing nail salon, take charge of recruitment, marketing, customer satisfaction, replenishing stock, managing appointments to ensure that the nail salon is profitable
-Any other duties as needed
-Knowledge of major mental illnesses including signs and symptoms
-Strong time management skills
-Flexible and able to work under pressure
-Strong client advocacy skills
-Ability to assist in complex, client life circumstances and maintain healthy boundaries
-Access to a reliable vehicle, possession of a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel extensively throughout St. John’s areas as required
-Availability to work occasional evening and/or weekend shifts as required
-Experience working with survivors of severe and persistent mental illness
-Criminal Record Check
-Willingness to obtain LCN certification
-Personal or professional experience with severe and persistent mental illnesses
-LCN Certification or experiences with nail salon businesses
