Job Summary:

Working with obstetrical patients, the incumbent performs variety of nursing duties by administering safe and effective nursing care according to Hospital policies and nursing care standards. The incumbent must demonstrate a professional attitude while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Requires a thorough understanding of the antepartum period, the labor and delivery process and the immediate postpartum period, and possesses a basic knowledge of new born assessment and breastfeeding. The incumbent will handle obstetrical emergencies and cares for high-risk women with obstetrical complications and/or medical conditions complicated by pregnancy.

Qualifications:

Active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Graduation from a recognized nursing education program. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. Advanced educational studies in obstetrics, including fetal monitoring or midwifery, and a certificate in Newborn Resuscitation are required. Operating room and post-anesthetic recovery room experience is an asset.
