    Description

I am selling a 1950s 7-tube 2 band superhet radio in a walnut, mahogany cabinet. The manufacturer is The Robert Simpson Company, but it is also recognized as an Electrohome product. The radio chassis has been recently restored, and is in good working order. No hum; crystal clear reception. All electrolytic, coupling and decoupling capacitors have been replaced by an experienced technician. This will give many more years of safe, dependable service. Please be advised: Due to a combination of age and old-technology, tube radios that have retained their factory-original electrolytic filter capacitors should not be plugged into the mains. All controls have been cleaned with Deoxit, and work as they should. The mains lead has been replaced. The radio pulls in stations on both bands just fine on the internal antenna. The magic eye tuning indicator works, but is rather dim. Replacement magic eye tubes are available, but they are more of a novelty than anything else. There is space for a turntable, (not provided), within the console. It would make a nice drinks cabinet! There is a PHONO connection on the radio chassis for a turntable, or Bluetooth. A schematic diagram is available if required. All tuning dial, turntable compartment, and floor illumination lamps work. The cabinet has a number of scuffs, commensurate with its age, but is in overall good condition, with all original fittings. Overall dimensions: 26" wide, 15.5" deep, and 33.25" high. Turntable compartment dimensions: 15" wide, 14.5" deep and 8.5" high; with a shelf above that has 6.75" clearance. It is not particularly heavy. I can give you a hand to load it into your vehicle. It is located on a ground floor (i.e. no stairs). I am willing to provide an in-home audition of the functionality of this equipment to ensure your satisfaction. Other key features: a. Radio bands received: Broadcast (AM/MW): 550 to 160 KHz, and Short Wave: 9-18 MHz. b. Internal antenna, and has connections for external antenna and ground. c. Switched mains socket, (originally assigned to operate a turntable). d. Illumination lamp for turntable compartment, (operated by front panel switch). e. Illumination lamp fitted on the underside of the cabinet, (illuminating the floor underneath). Pick up in Kanata. Local delivery is possible. If the ad is up, the item is available. Cash transaction preferred. Thanks.
