The ferry is owned and operated by the Ontario government year round. The island population is about 1200 friendly people - rural, quiet and very little traffic. Occasionally I come upon one or two cars or a tractor.

Possibilities: Build small, build large, build prefab, build custom, you choose. Many modest and high-end homes have been built recently on the island. Prefab and custom builders are available who build on the island. There is the opportunity to build green using geothermal heating and cooling as well as solar power. One can go further green by growing your own food or animal husbandry (horses, goats or chickens as examples). This is a great place to stay active.. Myself, I have a large farm tractor which allows me to be a gentleman farmer.

VALUE: Price vs Value - price is easy - it's a number. Value is tougher, for example - high income people are purchasing nearby ( 2 km) waterfront development lots ( 3 to 4 acres ) at a premium of greater than 50 % over mine. The value is in the premium and the people who are buying. Other values are location , acreage , flexibility and the life style away from a development, All worth considering.
