We are now taking orders for May/June 2017 Nucleus (known as nucs which include a fertilized queen with approximately 2 lbs of bees of various ages, brood, honey and pollen.
4 frame nucs - $170.00
5 frame nucs - $185.00
deep 10 frame box - ready for a honey super to go on top - $350.00
We raise our own queens; these queens have already weathered the Eastern Ontario Canadian winter. They produce honey and lots of brood.
It is very important that you understand your job as a beekeeper to ensure their safety. We recommend researching and understanding the duties of a beekeeper and how to protect them. Last year there was a 25% decline in honey bees wintering in Canada and the statistic for Ontario was even worse with just over 50% of hives that did not weather over the winter. That being said it is an expensive hobby but when the stars line up the bees produce honey and it’s magical and you’re a part of it, assisting them along the way.
You will need (ALL NEW ~ we do not accept used equipment on our bee yard, this is to avoid transferring diseases or malady) your own bottom board, super, frames with foundation (9 or 10 whichever you prefer), an inner cover and a lid. (All supplies are marked with your identification). Alternatively you can purchase a nuc (disposable) box for $6.50.
Limited quantities available.
