Hi! My name’s Paul and I teach drum lessons at Long & McQuade (North).
Lessons are for all ages and anyone with an interest in learning drums!
Topics I cover include, but not limited, are:
- Rock and Funk (quarter note, 8th note, and 16th note grooves)
- Blues (Shuffle, Half-time Shuffle and 12/8)
- Jazz (swing, comping, soloing, jazz waltz, and odd-time signatures)
- Latin (Bossa Nova, Samba, Mozambique, Songo, Naningo, and more!)
In addition to building blocks which are:
- Parts of the drum set
- Reading Music
- Rudiments and Technique
I have a passion for drumming and love to share what I know with others. Lessons move at each person’s own pace – building to a goal of their choice!

Quick info about myself:
- Began teaching at 16 years old, only two years after starting drumming myself
- MacEwan Music graduate (2009) and UofA Business degree (2013)
- Teacher at Long & McQuade (North) for +7 years
- Member of various local Edmonton bands since moving to Edmonton for post-secondary
