Pro In Home Guitar and Uke Lessons from a Professional Musician

Hello! My name is Mitchell Smith, and I have been teaching Guitar to all ages at a professional level since 2009. I also gig professionally all around Western Canada and have put out 5 albums of my own with various bands and projects.

Let me tell you a bit about my method of teaching. I believe in a hands on and interactive teaching method, which means I will send video play throughs, tabs, slowed down versions of things. etc. I go above and beyond for those who are eager to learn the instrument, I find it really rewarding to work with people who love music. I would say I have a more modern teaching method. That means our process doesn't have to involve just learning through a Hal Leonard book, though it could if that direction works for you. I love going above and beyond for my students so that they can get the most out of the classes, while keeping classes fun and light hearted! I am also available via text/email if there's any questions regarding what we last worked on.

I have a passion for teaching all skill levels and genres, including classic rock, pop, blues, jazz, hard rock, slide guitar, sight reading, classical, etc. I dont believe music is just a "God given talent", I think anyone with a love of music has the ability to improve on whatever they would like to improve on! I like to include a bit of theory, some exercises and technique ideas in classes, just to keep things well rounded, but we can apply those things to your areas of interest. I have studied with other world renowned musicians from all over the world myself and am also a constant learner since finishing my Masters in Guitar and Songwriting in 2012 at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Working the full class just on songs is okay, but there's so much more to music and guitar in general! I l will also show you what I do for practice schedules as well. I have found learning HOW to practice is the most important thing, and I love having those conversations with my students.
