    Description

East Lawrencetown, NS: Pottersfield Press, 2010. This book is like new. Gift condition. Not a blemish. 206 pages. This was a Dal Reads book in 2016 and included is the letter informing students from President and Vice Chancellor Richard Florizone. Through hours of interviews and a lot of research, Tattrie gives a whole other perspective on the events that destroyed Africville. Having met Eddie Carvery myself and his brother Victor, I know that they are a wealth of knowledge but sometimes its hard to follow their line of thinking. I think Tattrie has done wonderful job of piecing this story together. Eddie expressed to me that he really wanted people to know his story and what really happened to the people that lived there. The writing is compelling and there are points where I felt like I was in Africville . . . I forgot where I was. A must-read for anyone interested in the history of Africville.

Jon Tattrie is a journalist and writer. After a decade in Europe, he took a job on the Halifax Daily News in 2006. When the paper closed in 2008, he became a full-time freelancer, writing for Metro Canada, Transcontinental Media, the Chronicle-Herald, Halifax and Progress magazines, and other publications. He's sweated in a Mi'kmaq lodge, sailed a tall ship, explored a nuclear bunker and spent Christmas at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
