Getting a new puppy?
Tumblewood Canine's Puppy Development Program is full-service training program that will help you raise the perfect canine companion. Through a combination of group classes, critical skills workshops and 1-on-1 private coaching, we'll take care of all your training needs during your puppy's first year. You’ll become an amazing life-long leader for your puppy through a relationship built on mutual trust and respect.
Program Overview:
Training your puppy is a journey that starts as soon as you bring them home. It is critical to lay the right foundation during your puppy’s first year so they can become a fully-integrated member of your family and can join you in all of life’s adventures.
Your customized Puppy Development Program will teach you (and your new pup) all of the critical foundational skills and how to apply them to your real-life situations.
Puppy Development Program Framework:
1) Formal Training
Formal training teaches you and your puppy obedience and other foundational skills required for them to successfully participate in different activities. This includes:
- Obedience (sit, down, stand, stay, leave-it, drop-it, etc…)
- Manners (proper greetings, impulse control, settle, bed, door-dashing, etc…)
- Loose-Leash Walking
- Recall
2) Socialization
Socialization is the key to raising a happy and well-adjusted dog. It is how they learn to interact with people and dogs, as well as how to cope in different environments and situations. This includes:
- Basic Puppy Socialization (people, dogs, cars, scooters, wheelchairs, elevators, etc.)
- Appropriate Play with Other Puppies
- Being Handled (grooming and vet visits)
- Staying Calm in Different Situations (looking to you for direction)
3) Lifestyle Training (private 1-on-1 sessions)
Lifestyle training helps you apply foundational skills and socialization to your real-life situations. The Lifestyle Training component is fully customizable! This is where your dog truly becomes part of your family. It can include things like:
- Off-Leash Fundamentals
- Car Ride Manners
- Farm/Livestock manners
- Cafe/Patio Etiquette
- Jogging/Biking/Hiking
- Hunting/Fishing
- Boating
- Canine Sports/Tricks
- Service Dog
