Wanted: Mercury Kiekhaefer Outboard Restoration: Top-class!

Mercury Kiekhaefer Outboard Restoration: Top-class Specializing in Mark 30, 55, 58, Merc 300-700/800 FGS.

Currently I have the parts to build: Mark 6, Mark 30, Mark 55, Mark 55A (winged or oval logo badge), Mark 58/58A, Merc 300, 400, 450, 500, 700 & 800 (short or long shaft FGS).

I rebuild these motors from the ground up. Every single part is inspected, cleaned and replaced if necessary. All bearings, seals and gaskets are replaced with new. Magnetos are rebuilt with new points, condensers, rotors & distributor caps are inspected and cleaned and replaced if need be. New Packard 440 spark plug wire is used. Internal wire harness all inspected and rebuilt accordingly. New starter ropes and handles, new decals and the oval Mercury emblem is available as a reproduction item. New timing belts (I only use new). All new fuel lines are made, carbs and fuel pumps rebuilt. The lower unit is completely gone through. Spark advance is properly set. No short cuts ever!

Power heads are checked for cylinder roundness with a bore measuring tool. If your powerhead is out by over .005" thou it will never idle right and no matter how nice it looks you wont be happy with it. New rings are always installed and needle bearings, reeds, rods and pistons are cleaned and replaced if necessary. All new gaskets and sealant is applied and often new powerhead screws are used in the reassembly. This is the heart of your engine. New end cap bearings and O rings and seals are also replaced. If your end cap seals are shot your motor will simply not run well.

The motor housings are bead blasted, primed and painted with single stage Urethane using period correct matched colours.

When you get a motor from me it is a NEW vintage motor.
