Description

The slate came off the roof of our old farm house. About thirty years ago we had a bunch of leaks develop and the slate was flying off the roof at will. Afraid of getting hit by the slate, we needed to reroof. However, the cost to redo the house in slate was crazy. The cost of doing it in shingles was roughly 10% of doing it in slate again. I had a bunch of projects in mind for the slate so I had it taken down carefully and stacked on 16 skids. I finished my projects and having been selling off what was extra. I don’t have a lot left and over the years it has been picked over pretty good. I sorted in a best to good type of sorting and I can say that I don’t think there are a lot of complete, unchipped pieces left. Originally, they were 14X24 so use that as your guide. Still, you are welcome to ‘pick your own’. I have been selling the in full complete slates for $7 each and that’s still the case. If there is a chipped slate (and some are only marginally chipped) then I am charging $3 each. If they are split in half or pretty chipped then $1 each is fair (hard to define what exactly I mean by this but we can discuss) and I have to place a $3 minimum purchase .... just too much effort for anything less. This is OLD slate. It has what some like to call ‘patina’ but I’d say they look old. So, if you are looking for something newish or perfect then this is not for you. I am about ten minutes outside of Lindsay. Thank you
