Why this role is important?

We are hiring a Cosmetics Specialist- Southwestern Ontario

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, you will monitor and achieve projected sales and profit margins, optimizing the performance of Health and Beauty/Cosmetics components by identifying performance gaps, providing guidance, information and direction to improve results. This role liaises between Associates, cosmetic teams and vendors to ensure consistency of operational standards, cosmetics' image and execution of marketing programs.

What You'll Do:

Analysis \- Performs store visitations, compares sales volume to projected forecasts, identifies training requirements and develops potential promotional programs to contribute to the achievement of sales targets and overall growth and development Health and Beauty/Cosmetics department.

Leadership and Direction - Provides coaching, training and guidance to the cosmetics team to assist with the implementation of new product lines, increase sales volumes and ensure SDM image, standards and procedures are complied with.

Team Building \- Utilizes various sales reports, sales tracking, demand driven scheduling, product knowledge, and selling skills to develop a strong sales culture with cosmetics managers and teams. Sources potential cosmetic candidates, monitors performance, identifies performance gaps and provides training to develop a motivated and talented sales team to drive sales results.

Inventory Management \- Compiles and reviews relevant sales data to monitor key sales performance. Drives profitability through inventory management and provides guidance on the impact of shrinkage on overall sales.

Special Promotions- Provides support of in-store gala events as well as a number of other promotional initiatives to drive incremental business in the cosmetics department annually.

New Store Planning - Plans, prepares and orchestrates new capital involving recruitment of a cosmetics team, coordination of vendors for store set up, liaising with store concepts team, merchandising set up and training for the cosmetics team to ensure smooth soft and grand opening events and transitions.

Opportunity Identification - Liaises with internal business units and external vendors to develop actionable solutions to factors detrimental to profitable growth.

What You'll Need:

This position requires a demonstrated level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects. Excellent diplomacy is expected when dealing with colleagues in every day working relationships.



  • Cosmetics Industry Knowledge & Sales Experience \- You have an in-depth understanding of the cosmetics industry and experience selling cosmetics.


  • Event Management - You've successfully created/coordinated in-store special events and/or other promotional initiatives to increase cosmetics' sales.


  • Sales Management - You know how to motivate and coach a sales staff to increase sales.


  • Retail Experience \- You have experience within your background working in a store.


  • Process Improvement \- Demonstrated ability to improve work processes and teams.


  • Problem Solver - You can provide solutions by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required.


  • Decision Maker \- You know how to make a decision by utilizing the best source of resources and operational processes.


  • Organization - Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions.


  • Communication - Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone. Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents.


  • Computer Skills - you can produce and interpret reports, documents and presentations using excel and/or Word.


  • Professionalism - you demonstrate tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with associates, vendors and colleagues including senior management.


  • Education - Post secondary courses in, or knowledge equivalent to a college diploma is Marketing/Merchandising or equivalent.


  • In addition to the above skills and experience, it would be beneficial if you also have experience using an inventory management software system.
